We are a maple producer and a certified tree farm nestled atop the Naples hills in the Finger Lakes region.
Our story in a nutshell: The Wohlschlegel family has been making maple syrup for the last 15 years as a hobby on French Hill Road in Naples in a converted chicken coup (Harley’s Sap Shack). We had around 150 Taps on gravity fed tubing and buckets with a 3’ x 5’ evaporator. We would make about 30 gallons of syrup in a good year. This past September (2010) we took a “huge step” and built a new Sugar house nestled atop the hills of Naples (what a view). We have expanded our operation to approximately 4100+ Taps, a 3’ x 12’ evaporator, a Steam-away, and a Reverse Osmosis system on a wet-dry conductive vacuum system. We have a highly energy “efficient state of the art system” located on ~60 acres, 43 which are maples. Much of the remaining land is leased to a local farmer for corn. We also have a small apple orchard and Christmas tree plot started. Our sugar bush is a Certified Tree Farm, managed by our son, who is a Forester. We are committed to sustaining forests, watershed and healthy habitats and have a forest management plan to uphold these beliefs.
